His style is harmonically rich and original, the influence of Brahms is particularly apparent in the keyboard idiom. Einari Marvia


Einari Marvia (1915-1997) started his compositional studies at the age of 15, first privately with Erkki Melartin and later studied at the Sibelius Academy under Leevi Madetoja, Selim Palmgren, Aarre Merikanto and Sulho Ranta. He continued his studies in Vienna and Italy. Marvia made his life's work as the publishing manager of Edition Fazer, a predecessor of Fennica Gehrman.

Einari Marvia has written over a hundred solo songs, chamber music and some orchestral works. Fennica Gehrman has published his piano works, the Wind Quintet, the orchestral Serenata as well as his solo songs.
